Congratulations to Victoria Master Gardener Linda Cross, recipient of the MGABC Golden Trowel Award for 2022.
Linda became a Master Gardener in 2004 and since then has been instrumental in promoting sustainable gardening practices mainly through educational events and programs in the Victoria Chapter. She is always ready to volunteer and help with all kinds of Master Gardener projects and has taken a leadership and developmental role in several:
- Virtual Garden Mentor Project, a response when COVID-19 Health Orders both ended our ability to offer gardening support through live clinics and caused a “locked down public” to turn to gardening, sometimes for the first time.
- 6 years as the Program Chair of VMGA’s conference Mixing It Up in the Urban Garden. This role required creativity, organizational skills, dedication as the tasks for each conference span 18 to 24 months, and the ability to work with multiple teams in collaborative manners.
- The extremely popular Advanced Training Program, which has its 10 year anniversary in 2023.
She also has a wonderful native plant garden and knows the names, background, and requirements of all the plants in it!
