Mixing It Up in the Urban Garden 2017 "Our Gardens of the Future" Is a Happy Memory

Mark your calendars for the next Mixing It Up Conference -- Saturday February 2, 2019

That was the perfect way to spend a winter day: chatting with gardening enthusiasts, exploring new ideas about Our Gardens of the Future with the Speakers and the Resource Groups, shopping carefully curated collections at the Vendors and the Master Gardener's MarketPlace, finding treasures at the Resource Table, enjoying delicious food, and just plain having fun! And now we're ready to approach gardening with new ideas, inspiration and enthusiasm.

With thanks to everyone who made the 2017 Conference possible. Conference delegates, speakers, sponsors, vendors, resource groups, supporters, MarketPlace donors, garden clubs and VMGA members.

With thanks to the 2017 Speakers:
Our Gardens of the Future will be Urban: Youthful, Sustainable, Artistic, Low Budget and Edible: Lorraine Johnson, Keynote Speaker
These presentations, and Richie Steffen's Plant List, are posted at the bottom of this page:
Our Gardens of the Future will be Rooted in the Past: Dr. Richard Hebda and Dr. Nancy Turner

With thanks to the 2017 Program Sponsor: Russell Nursery generously sponsored the Speakers, installed a Hall’s Greenhouse -- showing how easy and convenient they are -- and invited participants to their 25th Anniversary Speaker Series. The last speaker in the series will be Allan Mandell, a professional garden photographer, speaking about "Soft Light & No Wind ... Seeing and Shooting Gardens" on October 1st, 2017. Tickets are available at Russell Nursery, or online at www.russellnursery.tickit.ca. Russell Nursery is a favourite amongst Victoria Master Gardeners, for their selection of healthy plants and trees, for their Hall's Greenhouses, and for their newsletter and classes. They're located at 1370 Wain Road in North Saanich. Learn more about Russell Nursery and sign up for their ideas-filled newsletter at www.russellnursery.com and follow them on Instagram at www.instagram.com/russellnursery

With thanks to the 2017 MarketPlace Sponsor: Bartlett Tree Experts topped off their generous MarketPlace sponsorship with the gift of an Acer palmatum for every delegate, carrying the message "Every Tree We Plant Makes A Difference". Bartlett arborists are experts in diagnosing and treating tree and shrub problems specific to the Victoria area. Plus, with access to Bartlett’s global resources and advanced scientific research facility, they can provide customers with benefits that just aren’t available from other Victoria tree services. Bartlett Tree Experts offers a variety of services to help customers maintain beautiful, healthy trees and shrubs. Access a complete list of the tree services provided in the Victoria area, see the “Tip of the Month”, and sign up for their excellent newsletter, at www.bartlett.com/locations/Victoria-BC.cfm
